•Three (3) years of full-time paid work experience in an administrative support role.
•Two (2) years of full-time paid work experience in a criminal justice setting to include administrative support experience e.g. data entry, report writing and/or processing, records management, and customer relation/service responsibilities.
 
Job Description:
Carver County is looking for a detail-oriented person to join our Records team. Under the general direction of the Records Supervisor, the Records Technician provides a variety of services involving the application of specialized knowledge of the Sheriff's Office and County policies and procedures; and current laws and regulations regarding law enforcement records. Employee must exercise judgment and discretion while carrying out job duties.

Interviews for this position will be held in person at the Carver County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, April 17. All candidates will receive an email notifying them of their status on Thursday, April 10.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process law enforcement reports and citations via e-charging and/or e-ticketing. Distribution of reports and citations to appropriate agencies following state and local guidelines, to meet timelines set by state statute and department guidelines. Must utilize independent judgment to determine what, if any, additional information is required to complete the process.
• Audit and review law enforcement reports and citations for correct grammar, spelling and completeness to ensure quality product. Utilize independent judgement and Office procedure to determine if report or citation needs to be returned to originator for follow-up or correction(s).
• Assign and make determination of CJRS (Criminal Justice Reporting System), NIBRS (National Incident Based Reporting System), or department code as it relates to the incident to comply with state, federal and department regulations.
• Responsible for entering law enforcement reports, citations and data into RMS (Records Management System). Ensure data is correct and accurate and in accordance with department regulations, state statutes, federal guidelines and Minnesota Data Practices Act. Utilize data to create statistical reports.
• Scan and index law enforcement reports and citations into Records Management System to create an electronic document(s).
• Transcribe a variety of statements verbatim ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Perform various customer service duties to include switchboard, releasing reports, accepting handgun permit applications, civil process papers, and collecting various fees.
