Methods+Mastery has an immediate opening for an experienced, talented, and energetic Vice President, Consumer Tech to join our team and help our clients maximize their communications efforts through earned media campaigns that place data and insights at their core. This position provides an exciting opportunity for a sharp communications professional with deep consumer technology experience to work with and manage a dynamic, high-performing team servicing a Fortune 50 technology client on programs encompassing hardware and software product communications, media relations, experiential events, owned media, executive communications, and issues management.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $112,000 - $160,000.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.

Responsibilities

  • Play a pivotal role in handling many of the day-to-day activities for the consumer tech account teams, including working with senior members of the team to drive client business and programs, and guiding clients and agency teams on both proactive and reactive communications strategy aligned with and in support of client business objectives. 
  • Serve as a day-to-day client lead contact, and manage work streams and teams on program execution, including material development and oversight as well as project and account management.
  • Develop and manage integrated consumer tech and product communications programs that drive earned media attention.
  • Work across Methods+Mastery disciplines to strive to place data and insights at the heart of all client recommendations, seeking opportunities for clients to utilize full breadth and depth of agency capabilities, expertise and offerings.
  • Manage budgets, accounts and key engagements, forecasting revenue and expenses accurately and making decisions to ensure accounts run effectively and efficiently.
  • Structure, lead and motivate teams, and identify additional internal and/or external expertise to add value to client experience.

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • 6+ years of experience in PR for technology brands, particularly in the mobile, wearables, IoT/connected home, streaming entertainment / app / games spaces.
  • Experience with people management - leadership and team-building experience, including management of local and geographically distributed account and client teams.
  • Broad technology business understanding, strong earned media strategy chops and existing relationships with tech reporters.
  • Strong analytical abilities, and critical, creative thinking. Can lead the development of programs for clients that are distinctive, relevant, creative, and measurable.
  • Ability to engage with and counsel senior level decision-makers across the client’s business and deliver connective insights to assist clients in driving alignment and execution of cross-company initiatives. Experience building relationships and working with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, draw conclusions, make recommendations, establish reasonable timelines and areas of responsibility, anticipate costs, and identify measures of success.
  • Experience managing accounts for effectiveness and profitability, including establishing meaningful metrics and scorecards for gauging program effectiveness, and overseeing the development and management of budgets, team structure, and client reporting.
  • Collaborative attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive and excel in a challenging fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate effectively. Experience with brand (consumer) and executive (C-Suite) communications.
  • Energetic self-starter and resourceful problem solver – gets things moving and keeps them on track. High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
  • Must be located on the West Coast (California)

  • Agency experience and/or in-house experience is a plus but not required.
    Tapped into and passionate about the growth and innovation in the tech industry .
  • Experience working with consumer subscription services, software companies.
  • Knowledge across the who’s who of the technology industry to bring forward ideas on how consumer technology brands can show up in authentic and interesting ways.
  • Future-thinker that has an eye for consumer trends and what’s next in the industry.
