The purpose of this job is to assist in the connection and disconnection of metered services due to account changes. Completes service orders on metered utility services. Collects and records metered service data using GPS.
Essential Functions:
- Investigates complaints regarding bills, re-read meters, examine meters and connections, and report defects in service lines or meters.
- Assists with performing metered services disconnections and reconnections for delinquent utility accounts.
- Contacts customers to investigate and resolve utility billing concerns with metered services.
- Assists with meter data collection and performing non-critical service orders.
- Provides general customer service and support.
- Assists with the collection of GPS data.
- Installs and/ or replaces water meters and electric meters.
- Regular attention is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience(An equivalent combination of education, training & experience will be considered):
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years experience in utility operations, preferably with water and electric metering.
Licenses or Certifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Water meter types, setup, and configuration of radio transmitters.
- Electric meter types, applicable safety practices, and PPE.
- Basic National Electric Codes for electric metered services.
- Common GPS mapping software applications.
- Relevant laws and regulations pertaining to electric and water metering.
- Standard practices, methods, materials, tools, equipment, and safety practices of water and electric meters and billing.
Skill in:
- Typing and/or data entry with minimal errors.
- Communicating verbally to meet the needs of the audience.
- Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
- Developing and maintaining effective work relationships.
- Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to:
- Use and maintain hand tools.
- Handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
