Position Overview
Project Engineer II: Responsible for engineering, remediation, and construction projects ranging in budget from $50,000 to $3,000,000. Works with multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems related to design and constructability for various project types. Projects predominantly involve heavy civil construction, including utility piping with vertical construction. Project diversity ranges from normal heavy civil construction to environmental remediation and deactivation/demolition projects.

The role can be hybrid and work out of one of the following offices: Akron, OH, Farmington Hills, MI and Oak Ridge, TN

Primary responsibilities include:
Preparing project design plans, drawings, specifications, and calculations
Working with and training other staff members including interns, staff engineers, and technicians
Reviewing work from other staff members
Field oversight, field reconnaissance, and quality control on engineering and construction projects
Preparing completion reports and other project closeout documents
Demonstrating consistent/exemplary safety performance and compliance

Other responsibilities include:
Performing as lead project representative on one or more projects of moderate to large size and complexity
Preparing and delivering project submittals including work plans, health and safety plans, quality control plans, and summary reports
Preparing, negotiating, and managing routine projects and monitoring the work of subcontractors and/or subconsultants
Assisting project managers with management and quality control responsibilities
Assisting with project budget management through internal financial accounting system (CostPoint)
Preparing project proposals
Participating in health and safety plan development
Writing technical reports
Performing technical review of plans

Depending on qualifications and performance, successful candidates may also have staff management responsibility for junior-level professional employees, including performance evaluations, training, and other supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering
4 to 10+ years of experience in civil or environmental engineering projects including significant experience with waste containment technologies like landfill and surface impoundment design and permitting
Knowledge of environmental systems that incorporate geosynthetic components (preferred)
Excellent organization, written communication, and oral communication skills
Ability to work constructively in diverse teams including project managers, engineers, technicians, scientists, and non-technical personnel
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
Proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D

Must be registered as a Professional Engineer by a state licensing board following NCEES Model Law and capable of registering with additional state licensing boards upon hire.
Additional Requirements:
CTI is a Drug-Free Workplace - Must pass pre-hire drug screen
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to physically navigate construction sites
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
