Summary:
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer II responsible for providing project management and design leadership, as well as effective customer relationship management with new and existing customers for our Energy Storage Group. Support our continued growth by aiding in the development, roll-out, and execution of early-stage Energy Solutions planning and development service offerings and leading the commissioning team during the construction of energy storage installations.
Locations Include: MN, AZ, TX, CA
Travel: Ability to travel up to 100%
Responsibilities:
Provide technical electrical support
Decide the best layout of collection system; including consideration of constraints such as overhead/underground, follow roads/cross country, and junction box locations
Review contractual testing, commissioning, and turnover requirements.
Understanding of PPA and Interconnection testing and turnover requirements.
Assemble plan and schedule for onsite testing and commissioning services.
Lead the electrical engineering design and equipment procurement through use of submittals, transmittals, and requests for information
Provide technical expertise to all parties concerned
Ensure subcontractors and self-perform work to understand the scope of project during bidding process and provide electrical engineering resource throughout the project
Communicate with local utilities to ensure the project can interconnect to the electrical grid
Perform loss calculations (100% output/annualized)
Develop one-line diagrams of collection a system and substations, as well as standard details of electrical construction that are typical to Mortenson projects
Review design documents to ensure conformance with contract expectations, noting and resolving issues or conflicts that could impact installation or other trades involved with the project
Supervise and ensure quality control of the work team, including self-performed and subcontracted work
Develop standard bid packages for 3rd party testing services.
Interface with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
Work with Project Manager(s)/Electrical Managers to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and the general working environment
Manage the interface with appropriate personnel concerned with the connection of the project power grid to the existing distribution system
All Other duties as assigned
Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, et al.
Handle site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of NEC code and NE safety code a plus
Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices
Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Ability to travel up to 100%
Education:
Electrical Engineering degree or applicable years of experience
Minimum of 4 years in electrical construction management or electrical design
Current driver's license
Proficiency in low, medium, and high-voltage technical knowledge
Specialized knowledge/experience in the area of electrical DC systems, low voltage AC systems, controls, and substations
Current driver's license
