Job Summary
Triage, process and release all electronic and paper medical records for Drexel Medicine practices both current and closed adhering to Drexel University's guidelines. Reports directly to the Health Information Management Director.
Essential Functions
Appropriately and accurately pulls records for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner.
Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient related information.
Coordinates and releases medical records to insurance companies, lawyers, state, and federal agencies. Processes routine subpoenas and court orders in coordination with the HIM director and the Risk Management department.
Verifies all authorizations in accordance with Drexel's University's policy and procedures and state and federal laws. Sends out all protected health information securely in accordance with Drexel University's Compliance and Privacy/departmental HIM policies and procedures.
Answers all emails addressed to the HIM department promptly. Answers and addresses HIM department's telephone calls and mail. Retrieves and answers all voice mails throughout the day.
Communicates all updates and issues to the requestors related to delays or issues with the release of records.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of High school Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of experience required releasing protected health information.
Medical Terminology required.
Minimum (2) years of experience using an electronic medical record system and practice management software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Acrobat and Scan
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer previous experience in an out-patient practice and/or releasing of medical records.
Physical Requirements
Typically sitting at a desk/table.

Additional Information
This is a Part-time Temporary Per Diem  position classified as Non-Exempt.  The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
