As a Principal Software Engineer at CVS Health, you'll play a crucial role in building and delivering high-quality software that enhances customer experiences. You'll be involved in all phases of software engineering, from requirements analysis to deployment, while adhering to agile software development methodologies. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will:

  • Create a technical vision to meet short- and longer-term business needs.
  • Ensure the long-term quality of architecture, design, and code of our software systems.
  • Own critical component of the software architecture.
  • Lead hands-on as required, perform design and code and reviews.
  • Help deploy and maintain large scale software in Production, ensure operational excellence.
  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, distributed architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Help translate business requirements into software system in an Agile environment.
  • Serve as technical lead on the most demanding, cross-functional projects.
  • Advise leadership on technical decisions, strong communications skills.
  • Help the career development of other team members, mentor individuals on advanced technical issues, help managers grow their teams.

You will be part of a team that values collaboration and encourages innovative thinking at all levels. You will be intellectually challenged to solve problems associated with large scale complex, structured and unstructured data, that will allow you to grow your technical skills and engineering expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with designing and building software engineering solutions in cloud environments (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more modern languages, such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, etc.
  • 10+ years of experience with APIs, microservices, and modern software patterns
  • 5+ year(s) of soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • 5+ year(s) of experience independently managing deliverables

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in GCP architecture, commands and experience designing & optimizing software and data engineering patterns
  • Healthcare, Retail, Pharmacy and/or Insurance domain experience.
  • Machine Learning and Generative AI experience at scale.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred. 

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$144,200.00 - $288,400.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
