**This position is open through April 30, 2025 Job Title: STEM Intern Emergency Management (Summer 2025) Compensation: ($21.00 $25.00 Hourly) The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, develop practical skills, enhance knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to projects. Intern assignments will be determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to skills and development goals. The Emergency Management Intern will gain knowledge and experience while providing technical and administrative assistance on emergency management projects. These projects involve exercise design, development and evaluation, editing emergency management procedures and helping conduct outreach with off-site response agencies. Duties may also include assisting staff with day-to-day operations within Emergency Management, researching assignments and special projects, and working in the Emergency Operations Center. SPECIFIC PROJECTS/RESPONSIBILITES 1. Develop, revise, and review procedures to maintain compliance with DOE O 151.1E 2. Assist EM with the transition to the new contract with respect to procedure review and updates. 3. Assist EM with the development, performance, and evaluation of drills and exercises. 4. Assist EM with Self Assessments based on DOE O 151. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Pursuing a BA/BS in Emergency Management/Preparedness, Fire Science, or Nuclear Engineering. Must be at least a rising Junior. Preferred background in emergency management, homeland security, public safety, public administration or related fields. Other Requirements: Ability to intern for 10 weeks typically between May and August. Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new challenges. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft suite. Exhibit professional behavior which promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Ability to effectively manage, organize, and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Perform tasks under general supervision for most assignments.
