Opportunity Builders, Inc., (OBI) Personal Support Staff are responsible for providing direct care/support and advocacy for adults diagnosed with intellectual and physical disabilities. This position ensures the participants assigned to them receive the highest quality of care and support through the person-centered planning (PCP) process. This includes assisting in the proactive steps to work towards achieving goals outlined in the (PCP).  Interested candidates would need to be active and enjoy going out into the community, can assist the individuals with life skills to include but not limited to personal hygiene, housekeeping and meal preparation. This position may require providing direct care/support within the participants home or within the community.  This is a Part-Time position between 4-30 hours a week. The days and hours vary based on the individual's scheduled services. This is a perfect opportunity for flexible part-time employment.

Below are personal requests from the individuals served by OBI and reside in Glen Burnie, Brooklyn Park, Highland or Pasadena.

RB is looking for an active person to work with him daily from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  RB would like this person to help him enjoy his community, play basketball and go bowling.    

MC is looking for someone to work with him Saturdays & Sundays (12:00pm– 5:00 pm). MC would like someone who enjoys sports, playing games and going out to experience his community.  

KS is looking for someone (female preferred - is okay with a male) on Monday for 5 hours after 12:00 pm. KS would like this person to assist her with her classwork from Anne Arundel Community College. 

NL is looking for an active person to attend outings in the community. He is employed and wants someone to work with him on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm – 7pm.

MS is looking for a staff member to assist with his Socialization. MB likes to meet new people and go on outings such as going to the pool, movies and playing basketball. The days preferred are Tuesdays & Thursday for 8 hours.

AB is looking for an active person that is available Monday through Friday for 6 hours a day. AB likes bowling, going to parks and exercising.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record and 1+ years driving experience. 
  • Ability to perform and meet job and physical requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Prefer 1 year experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities (may include volunteer or personal experience from having a family member with a disability)
  • Able to perform duties with autonomy.
