JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Auditor and Chief Deputy, is responsible for performing a variety of duties associated with transactions for various agencies and departments, which require a high level of accuracy. Serves as the back-up to payroll. Does onboarding of new employees, processes pay increases, deduction changes etc...in the payroll system. Enters, edits, and balances bi-weekly, monthly, and special payrolls for the county on a strict timeline. Files payroll documents. Assists with balancing various deductions. Help with processing benefit changes during open enrollment for health insurance, dental, life insurance and other voluntary benefit products. Assists with audits of financial records. Compiles data for various reports. Assists with conducting annual year-end balancing. Answer inquiries from county employees. Handles public records requests made by the public and offices/departments in person, email, and telephone. Various other clerical and support functions as necessary including assistance with Real Estate functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of 12th school grade or GED and three years to five years of experience in a finance-related field, accounting-related field or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Ohio Driver License and acceptable driving record; must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the County’s insurance plan.

Computer, telephone, copier, printer, calculator, and other standard office equipment.
INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mainly sitting with standing/walking periodically throughout an eight (8) hour workday. Occasionally lifting, pulling, pushing, climbing, bending, squatting, crouching, and kneeling. Payroll boxes are a minimum of five (5) pounds.
Exposure to chemical compounds commonly found in an office environment (e.g., printer, toner, correction fluid, etc..).
JOB DUTIES AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors and positively interact with public.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handles Health Insurance and Portability Accounting Act (HIPAA) and other sensitive information and maintains confidentiality of records. Attend seminars, conferences, and other job-related training programs. Perform other related duties as required or as assigned.

- Knowledge:Knowledge regarding finance and accounting, *Harris Financial software system, the *Office policies, and procedures, *IRS rules, *OPERS guidelines, *STRS guidelines, customer service and English grammar and spelling.
- Skill in: Various computer software systems including *Harris Financial software system, Microsoft Word, and Excel, typing and the use of modern office equipment.
- Ability to: Interpret a variety of written documents and forms, conversations with Offices/Departments and instructions; deal with problems involving variables within a familiar context; exercise independent judgment and discretion; formulate and prepare accurate documentation; communicate effectively; maintain records according to established procedures; develop and maintain effective working relationships.
CLASS TITLES OF POSITIONS DIRECTLY SUPERVISED: NONE
Wages:Starting wage is $35,000. To $40,000.00 per year, based on experience, skills, and abilities.
