
Production Associate Group Leader
Job Description Summary
The term “Group Leader” refers to an employee to whom specific leadership responsibilities have been delegated as part of his/her regular job. Group Leaders have no responsibility or authority regarding personnel matters in the group such as hiring, firing, disciplinary action, etc., which are the sole responsibility of Management.Please note: this is a 2nd shift role M - F from 1 PM - 10:30 PM with some pre-planned weekends.
Job Description
Group leaders will assist in planning and scheduling work, instruct employees in proper methods, and perform any type of work required for the proper functioning of the group. A general list of Working Group Leader responsibilities is included in this job description; additional department specific responsibilities may be established.
The Group Leader is a working leader; when not performing Group Leader activities, the leader is performing the job skills of the production associate “Othersal” classification.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions Include:
- To identify, appropriate, receive, store, and issue all types of material and supplies with and without the use of mobile lift trucks and/or pickers.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Delivers items to and from the floor as required, including filling, and moving all types of kitting operations.
- Perform visual checks of materials as feasible.
- Performs all packing in preparation for various methods of shipping builds special boxes including necessary bracing to insure against damage; arranges for most economical method of transportation; maintains records including contents of packages, weights, etc.
- Performs shipping, receiving and quality transactions on all company computer systems, maintains various records.
- Ensures inventory accuracy, including verification of quantity, size, shape, weight, and required parts.
- Maintain supplies on hand to perform the function.
- Keeps stock rooms and supermarkets neat and orderly.
- Performs work of miscellaneous nature whenever it is conducive to efficient operation and/or maintaining production.
- Communicates (written and verbally) information concerning the availability of piece parts, completed work, etc. using current methods including email and web.
- Interface with co-workers and other team members, suppliers, transportation agencies, and customers to achieve operational excellence.
Group Leader Responsibilities Include:
- Direct the work activities of a defined group of employees.
- Be responsible for the work of a defined group
- Assist in planning and scheduling of work
- Instruct employees in proper methods: ensure all training is documented using required forms
- Perform and support any type of work required for proper functioning of a group: to include normal production, rework, indirect work, etc.
- Assist engineering and manufacturing support on the development and prove out of new products, methods, tools and test equipment
- Communicate to the group all changes and assure compliance
- Provide to team leader production quantities at the end of the shift and recommend ways of making up any deficiencies in expected quantities
- Communicate shortages on the floor to team leader/materials personnel and accumulate the necessary parts and/or materials to the group
- Must demonstrate a high degree of self-initiative, leadership and quality consciousness
- Communicate to the team leader repeat problems of product within the group. This communication is assumed to include other Group Leaders both on shift as well as between shifts and assist in problem solving
- Additional department specific responsibilities may be established (all contractual provisions apply, concerning wages, hours and working conditions)
Required Qualifications:
Have a demonstrated ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions. Have demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations such as multiplication and division with decimals and fractions. Have demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools, scale, square, tape measure, calipers, etc. Have demonstrated ability to accurately use mechanical devices such as micrometers, height gauges, dial calipers, etc. Meet physical requirements for mobile equipment operators; must be able to operate powered vehicles and maintain operator’s license. Have demonstrated ability to perform transactions on company computer systems. Able to discriminate visually to perform various checks (GEMS vision test or equivalent)* Able to discriminate auditorially to perform noise checks* Bending motions from waist required* Able to handle/lift various parts/assemblies* Repetitive hand and wrist motion required* Extended period of standing/sitting* Able to lift, push, pull, and/or carry forty (40) pounds on a repetitive basis*
