Responsibilities



SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for Maintaining appropriate inventory levels for strategic customers. We're looking for people who want to grow with us, as we see the potential to progress in this role. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our supply chain organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with strategic customers to establish stocking strategies.
Work closely and proactively with team members to establish and maintain inventory levels that support customer forecasts.
Coordinate directly with product managers, customer service and operations management in order to evaluate and process expedite requests.
Execute and improve inventory investment processes related to:
o Strategic inventory stocking levels
o Excess and Obsolete
o Safety Stock
Ensure that relevant inventory and service level metrics are measured, monitored, and communicated back through the customer-facing & operational organizations
Work directly with suppliers to expedite purchase orders and coordinate delivery schedules

Safety Duties & Responsibilities:
Adhere to, promote, and accept responsibility for compliance to Federal and Local Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, Industry Consensus Standards, and KGP Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual.
Participate in job site safety/hazard analysis.






Qualifications



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's Degree preferred)
* At least two years of experience in a purchasing position is preferred but not required
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred
* Customer service skills appropriate to the position
* Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
* Ability to work at a pace appropriate to the workload
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet required deadlines
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the Company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
* Ability to add and subtract 10-digit numbers, to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:
* No major critical thinking required. Work follows established job aids and business rules. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
