We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join our team in Homewood, Alabama. This Contract-to-permanent position will play a vital role in supporting our finance and operations teams by managing daily accounting tasks, improving organizational processes, and assisting in preparing for audits. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset, thriving in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Organize and digitize financial documents by scanning and filing accounts payable records and other paperwork.
• Assist in preparing for audits by ensuring financial documents are accurate and up-to-date.
• Process monthly check payments and manage participant billing, including overseeing scholarship-related billing procedures.
• Support payroll preparation and coordinate with third-party payroll providers for timely processing.
• Help implement and manage a purchase order (PO) system to streamline financial operations.
• Reconcile credit card transactions and ensure accurate monthly reporting for multiple accounts.
• Collaborate with external accounting firms to facilitate account reconciliations and monthly book closings.
• Develop and refine administrative workflows, forms, and staff training processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Must have experience working in QuickBooks Online
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and the ability to perform basic functions within the software.
• Prior experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, open-office environment.
• Comfort working in a setting that serves individuals with disabilities, including engaging in positive interactions.
• Knowledge of invoice processing, billing, and general bookkeeping principles.
• A degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not mandatory
