Job Description
The Associate IP Counsel will work with R&D partners and the IP Department to support our bioproduction and biosciences. This role includes managing IP strategies and developing patent portfolios in various areas.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop robust patent portfolios in the areas of cell biology, cell and gene therapy, genome editing, and related fields.
Capture strategic innovations and review invention submissions with IP Review Boards to protect Company IP and foster a culture of innovation.
Advise collaborators on risk mitigation strategies, such as conducting freedom to operate analyses for new product launches.
Drive revenue generation through commercial contract and licensing negotiations.
Develop and implement focused IP strategies to support business and commercial goals.
Educate key collaborators to protect company assets.
Participate in IP Department initiatives, embodying a leader with vision and encouraging collaboration and teamwork.
Required Experience and Skills:
Education
Technical degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience
6+ years of experience in managing global patent portfolios in cell biology, cell and gene therapy, or genome editing.
3+ years of law firm experience required.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering field preferred.
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
