Summer 2025!
As a Safety Intern, you will work closely with our Safety team to support various aspects of safety management in the ready-mix concrete industry. This internship is designed to provide exposure to safety protocols, hazard identification, incident reporting, and overall safety program administration. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safety, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and contribute to a culture of safety excellence.
Responsible For:
1. Safety Inspections:
* Assist in conducting regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas.
* Identify potential hazards and contribute to the development of corrective action plans.
2. Incident Reporting and Investigation:
* Support the process of incident reporting and investigation.
* Collaborate with the Safety Team to analyze incident data and recommend preventive measures.
3. Safety Training:
* Assist in organizing and facilitating safety training sessions for employees.
* Contribute to the development of safety training materials and resources.
4. Safety Program Administration:
* Support the implementation and maintenance of the company's safety programs.
* Contribute to the preparation of safety reports and documentation.
5. Emergency Response Planning:
* Assist in the development and testing of emergency response plans.
* Participate in drills and exercises to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
What we are looking for:
* Currently enrolled in the Concrete Industry Management Program at South Dakota State University.
* Familiarity with all commonly used computer software (MS OfficeSuite, etc.).
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Detail-oriented with a passion for promoting a culture of safety.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
