Job Description:
OVERVIEW
As a R&D Packaging Engineer II you will be responsible for driving impact through Annie's Mac & Cheese box for the Natural & Organic business unit to enable us to win in the marketplace. In this role you will get exposure to a broad range of products and business needs.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to leverage your strong technical, influence, and project management skills to support multiple aspects of the product development cycle - innovation, renovation and HMM. You will partner with External Supply Chain (ESC) facilities to commercialize projects and to identify and drive efficiency of existing products.
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop the ability to influence across organizations, advance technical possibilities, and develop leadership skills as a subject matter expert on a business team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Partner with brand teams to ideate and execute unique packaging to elevate brand experience and drive joy through our brands
Design all packaging with:
Knowledge of product/ packaging interactions and results on product protection through shelf life
Knowledge of designing for distribution, channel, and customer requirements
Ability to understand and apply machine material interactions through the design process
Knowledge of packaging material testing for the purpose of specification creation and trouble shooting
Champion these designs across the business and all cross-functional partners such as Operations, Logistics, Sourcing, Finance, and Product R&D
Lead new packaging start-ups across our external manufacturing locations
Create prototypes and bring passion for Consumer First Design as related to packaging moments of truth
Maintenance of Mac & Cheese box and Cat Ex products
Work within specification, graphics, and pallet design programs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, or related field
2+ years of Packaging development experience
Ability to manage multiple projects independently, in fast paced environment
Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization
Strong acumen in business processes
Passion for experimentation and creating new possibility thinking
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, including a strong bias for action
Travel (up to 20%)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years Packaging development experience
Experience working with ESC locations

Salary Range


The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
