Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical concepts of rotating equipment, chillers, boilers, and generators for proper functioning and repair.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety practices and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Knowledge of standard safety practices, including the use of respiratory equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and interact courteously with others.
  • Experience using large hand tools, pipe fitting, seals, filters, and lubricants.
  • Ability to complete computer-based time sheets, record data, read and write work orders, follow standard operating procedures, and use specialized measuring devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Proficiency using AiM Integrated Work Management System.
Job Description
Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment associated with the production of steam, chilled water, and electricity.
Job Duties
  • Conduct mechanical equipment, piping and valve preventive maintenance tasks and document.
  • Inspect multiple 550-ton to 2,500-ton chillers.
  • Maintain plant air compressor and dryers for instrument air in plant.
  • Inspect and lubricate large vertical, horizontal, and centrifugal split case pumps and motors.
  • Inspect, clean cooling tower fans, gearboxes, piping, valves, and basins in cooling towers.
  • Complete and close out work orders.
  • Inspect and service multiple boilers up to 50,000 pounds per hour steam.
  • Assist and service emergency generators on campus as needed.
  • Inspect and maintain sand filters, reverse osmosis units, and water softeners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
