Job Summary: |
SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that create a safe, healthy, secure, and compliant workplace. This position will be primarily responsible for coordination of manufacturing safety and health and supporting environmental compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Maintain and continually improve environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
-Conduct hazard assessments with focus on electrical safe work practices, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, chemical exposure, and PPE.
-Prepare and maintain environmental health and safety related reports in compliance with corporate expectations and regulatory requirements.
-Conduct routine internal environmental health and safety audits and support external audits.
Work independently to identify, plan, and complete work that has a positive impact on worker safety and health protection.
-Develop, coordinate, and conduct EHS training and orientation as required.
-Participate on Qorvo's corporate cross-site EHS Collaboration team.
-Coordinate and conduct site assessments of applicable compliance issues to ensure operational activities are consistent with the needs of the organization and applicable regulatory requirements.
-Ensure a consistent understanding and adherence to both regulatory and site requirements by interacting with all levels of organization including management, technicians, and maintenance staff.
-Complete and/or assist in EHS administration tasks including 6S audits, quarterly EHS Scorecard updates, monthly metrics, internal audits, equipment calibration, and safety concern follow-ups.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or similar field of study.
-1-3 years of hands on EHS experience or internship preferred.
-Working knowledge and understanding of general industry safety regulations (29 CFR 1910).
-Strong problem-solving and creative skills
-Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
-Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to professionally communicate at all levels of the organization.
-Ability to multitask, prioritize job duties, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
-Proficiency in MS Office products. (Power point, Excel, Word, Teams)
-Good verbal and written communication.
-Ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
-Must be proficient in MS Office products. (Power point, Excel, Word, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications:
-General Industry OSHA 10-hour certification.
-Internship experience in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment.
-Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or semiconductor environment.
-Enthusiastic and innovative approach to safety, while driving positive change.
