The Laboratory Assistant II will be part of a talented and dynamic research group focused on understanding stem cell-mediated tissue regeneration and the impact of aging on this process. The successful candidate will assist in studies aiming to understand skeletal muscle maintenance and regeneration, and to develop animal models of aging interventions. These studies will involve the use of cell and molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing. We provide a supportive environment to develop these skills in relevant areas. The Lab Assistant II will also participate in routine lab maintenance.
Salary Range: $21.38 – $25.15 Hourly
Required:
Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and supplies.
Good communication skills and ability to work well with multiple individuals.
Ability to maintain an organized working area.
Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.
Knowledge of chemistry to prepare common lab solutions.
Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new lab equipment, as needed.
General knowledge of University procedures.
Preferred:
B.S. Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or related field.
Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling chemical and biohazardous waste.
