About the Job



The department of Applied Human Sciences seeks full and part-time term faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year in the Exercise & Rehabilitation Sciences program. The start date of this position is August 18, 2025.
Duties:
Teaching:
Develop and teach courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Metabolism, and Exercise Testing and Prescription.
Demonstrate command of their subject matter.
Have well organized course plans and deliver courses clearly to students
Use high impact, active, and inclusive teaching practices
Incorporate assessment of program student learning outcomes into relevant courses
Help students fulfill their academic needs
Maintain a consistent and positive student teaching evaluation record
Advise students regarding both specific coursework and broader academic or career goals, both inside and outside the classroom
Supervision:
Potential supervision of student internships as part of teaching workload in Department
Research, Service:
There is no expectation of the following as part of this position: formal advising, conduct research in the department, or contribute to service responsibilities at the department, collegiate, campus or university level.

Qualifications



Required:
Masters degree from an accredited university in Exercise Science or related field
Effective written communication skills appropriate to the position.
Preferred:
Terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in Exercise Science or relevant field
One year of relevant teaching experience at the college level (graduate TA experience acceptable)
Experience teaching a variety of upper and lower division courses such as those offered by the UMD
Effective teaching and communication skills appropriate to the position
Experience in using technology for teaching.
Demonstrated experience with assessment
Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups

About the Department



The Department of Applied Human Sciences (AHS) is one of five departments within the College of Education and Human Service Professions. AHS is the department home to nearly 30 full-time and part-time faculty members with teaching and research interests in multiple degree programs: Childhood Nature Studies, Environmental and Outdoor Education, Exercise & Rehabilitation Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Public Health. Pay and Benefits



Pay Range: $45,000-$65,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
