JOB REQUIREMENTS: Seeking students and adults with sports knowledge! The
City of Onalaska is seeking to hire Coaches. Under the supervision of
the Recreation Manager or Coordinator, employees are responsible for the
overall direction and oversight of any aspect associated with a sports
team. Independently provides direction to players, assistant coaches,
umpire/referees and spectators on issues relating to a team structure,
practice plan set up and implementation, player positioning, team rules,
the sport\'s rules and rule interpretation, schedules, equipment needs
and use, safety of participants, and any documentation needed. Essential
Job Functions: Develops and implements meaningful and instructive
practice plans and/or lessons. Teaches participants the importance of
sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork. Teaches participants the rules
and regulations of the activity/sport. Leads practices and evaluates
participant\'s skill level. Develops team roles for assistant
coaches/volunteers and parents. Develops team guidelines. Distributes
and collects program materials such as equipment, plans, uniforms,
schedules and forms Responsible for the program equipment and the
condition of equipment. Assists with the set-up and cleanup of
facilities. Reports injuries, facility hazards, and program concerns to
the Recreation Manager or designee. Responds to accidents and
emergencies in an appropriate manner; administering first aid
accordingly. Attends training and organizational meetings as requested.
Maintains communication with program participants, program and office
staff. Resolves conflicts between participant parents, participants,
coaches and officials/umpires. Contributes to a cooperative working
effort by demonstrating a willingness to perform other job-related work,
as needed or requested. The interdependency of operations is recognized
and the abilities and skills exist to do other work as needed or
requested. Assistance is given to others and special projects completed
as scheduled or requested. This is a recognized and accepted part of
being a member of the program staff. Physical Requirements: The work
environment characteristics described herein are representative of those
an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this
job. Job Requirements: Student or adult with sports knowledge. Must
possess supervision and leadership techniques/skills. Experience
playing, coaching or being part of a sport or program of similar nature.
Work with minimum supervision. High School diploma or equivalent
preferred but not necessary. Compensation: Wage range for this seasonal,
limited-term position is \$9.00 to \$12.00 per hour depending on
qualifications. There are no benefits associated with limited-term
