Toxicological and Environmental Risk Assessment Specialist (F/M/X)

About the role

  • Our Product Regulations & Stewardship (PRS) team, composed of 40 people, is integrated in the HSER department and focuses on the compliant, safe and sustainable use of our products worldwide in line with Solvay’s Responsible Care commitment.
  • As a Toxicologist, you will deliver Toxicological & Environmental Risk Assessment expertise in support of Global Business Units (GBU) product stewardship activities and represent Solvay or its GBUs in consortia and sector groups.
  • You will get the opportunity to work in collaboration with other experts (in the GBU, Sustainability, Legal, HSER and all the PRS teams), and contribute to a positive impact in Solvay’s Chemical Industry compliance.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Supporting the GBU product stewardship activities through collaboration and guidance on
    • Testing strategies for hazard assessment, and monitoring and coordination of (eco-)toxicological studies and phys-chem studies;
    • Preparation of Registration dossiers (both for EU and other countries), author expert positions, technical responses and Weight of Evidence assessments for regulatory use;
    • Performance of Exposure and risk assessment using dedicated modeling approaches for the industrial, professional and consumer uses of Solvay products;
    • GBU R&I initiatives and business development (client questions).
    • Supporting colleagues within and outside the toxicology team by acting as a reference person on specific field(s) of expertise
    • Technical representation of Solvay and its GBUs in consortia and sector groups
  • We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid working mode.

About you

  • Master degree in life sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology) or medical sciences. You have a strong (eco)toxicology and risk assessment background, demonstrated by at least 5 years of professional experience gained in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry or in a consulting environment.
  • Competencies:
    • Good communication in English and good knowledge of French
    • Experience in writing and submitting safety documentation as required under EU environmental and human health regulations such as REACH; Experience in the management, monitoring and interpretation of (eco)toxicological studies
    • Experience with testing regimes according to international guidelines (e.g., EU, OECD), alternative approaches like QSAR and read-across, and classification of chemical substances.
    • Specialized knowledge in one of the following topics would be an added value: substances of very high concern (SVHC), biocides, endocrine disruption, mixture toxicity and/or nano/particle toxicology.

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While France base pay reasonably expected for this role is 62000€ to 77800€, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
