Description/Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Strategic Intelligence is responsible for supporting various business development initiatives and projects by preparing and leveraging research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and support the Firm’s priorities and goals. This role will implement best practices for organizing, collecting, analyzing and presenting content, and will ensure the quality, accuracy and consistency of research produced by the Business Development team.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Support the Strategic Intelligence Director to conduct and deliver actionable strategic analysis and reports to guide internal initiatives and inform stakeholders’ decision-making.
  • Manage and oversee research produced by junior team members and create periodic activity reports.
  • Mentor and train team members on research resources, methodologies and best practices. 
  • Conduct in-depth research, compile, organize and analyze internal and external intelligence on key clients and prospects as well as market, industry and competitor trends.
  • Create tailored, thoughtful and responsive research and analysis that can translate into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate across the business development team to identify ways to support initiatives and specialized projects.

Required Skills

  • Solid research acumen and strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, the legal services industry.
  • Capable of independently asking questions, anticipating needs and identifying solutions to produce actionable intelligence. 
  • Ability to create clear, concise and well-structured written and verbal communications.
  • Strong attention to detail, superior organizational and project management skills, and demonstrated commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficient in utilizing research tools, including Capital IQ, PitchBook, Refinitiv, Bloomberg, BloombergLaw and other market intelligence platforms, as well as MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in creating and leading training programs.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of six (6) years combined of business development and research experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate environment.

Salary Information

NY only: The estimated base salary range for this position in NY only is $140k to $180k at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
