Position Summary
The SUNY Cortland’s Chemistry Department is accepting applications for a 10-month full-time lecturer with responsibilities to include teaching introductory laboratory and lecture courses to science majors and non-majors.

Major Responsibilities
  • Teach first and second-year chemistry courses for majors and non-majors. Teaching responsibilities will include general chemistry laboratories and other lecture and laboratory courses in the department as needed. (12 contact hours per semester)
  • Teach assigned classes in accordance with learning objectives and specified by the syllabus.
  • Work with department faculty to contribute to laboratory curriculum development.
  • Effectively engage with and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Faculty members report directly to the academic chair of their department in the School of Arts and Sciences.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in chemistry by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching undergraduates.
  • At least one year of teaching experience with undergraduates.
  • Experience teaching general chemistry laboratories.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in chemistry.
  • Experience teaching chemistry for science majors and non-majors.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
