We are looking for: 

 

The Plant Shift Superintendent is responsible for manufacturing operations within a Union environment, on a multi-shift basis for a given set of manufacturing processes across more than one Work Cell.  These responsibilities include manpower justifications, hiring, development, and evaluations, quality, safety, cost reduction, problem solving, product/process troubleshooting, machine scheduling, budget development and compliance. the manufacturing functions to produce advanced composite materials for the Aerospace, Military, Industrial and Recreational markets.

  • Manage the manufacturing of products in accordance with approved RC-14001/AS-9100 procedures and safety requirements in order to meet quality, plant and customer service specifications/requirements.     
  • Understand, promote, and maintain government, industry and company safety, health and environmental standards to improve safety and health consciousness, ensure a safe, healthy work environment, and control factors that may cause personal injuries.
  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement efforts through Process, Work Cell and Facility Engineers on all aspects of the business. These including quality, efficiency, scrap, inventory control, cycle time, on-time delivery and safety.
  • Train, develop, evaluate and administer hourly, non-exempt, and exempt staff.  Provide developmental growth opportunities.  Create and maintain a work environment that advances the Company’s core principles, ensures compliance to company policies and equal employment opportunity programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of expense and capital budget forecasts for production requirements in order to ensure conformance to approved expenditures maintain efficient operations and establish reasonable objectives for assigned area.
  • Promote and maintain government, industry and company health and safety standards to improve safety and health consciousness, ensure a safe, health work environment and control factors that may cause personal injuries.
  • Assuring adherence to the requirements of the site’s AS9100 Quality System including –continuous improvement, Quality Planning, Process control, control of nonconforming product, adequate training and evaluation of personnel to that end.

You will bring:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Bachelor's or a related technical discipline. Masters in Business Administration, financial acumen, knowledge of MRP system is a plus. 
  • 5 to 10 years experience in chemical manufacturing or refining working in the operations, technical, or maintenance areas is required.  Position requires supervisory/advisory experience.  
  • Knowledge of equipment, procedures, and materials used to manufacture adhesive and thermoplastics materials and related products is required.  
  • Working knowledge of safety practices, including behavior based safety programs, cost control, labor relation, preventive maintenance, Quality requirements, equipment design and project engineering.
  • Process and Project engineering experience a plus.
  • Strong administrative, problem solving and communication skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $113,600 to $136,320 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
