Job Description
The Design Engineer I will be responsible for designing and detailing systems, subsystems and their components for use in custom built products as well as standard product lines. Design responsibilities may include mechanical, structural, cosmetic, electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS), electronics and electro-mechanical systems as required by each project. The position requires knowledge of electrical and mechanical design practices, designing for manufacturability, and ASME drawing standards such as Global Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). 3D modeling and 2D drafting will be completed utilizing Dassault Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, Altium PCB Designer, and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
Essential Functions
Design and Development:
Collaborate with managers, engineering and production teams to design, develop, and implement systems for aerospace and ground based applications.
Ensure designs meet industrial regulations, such as reliability, safety, and performance.
Use 3D modeling and 2D drafting software to convert concepts into models and production drawings.
Develop, read and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and other technical drawings.
Identify and understand the components, connections, and overall architecture of electronic systems.
Perform and document analyses of product performance and adequacy to requirements.
Verification and Validation
Collaborate with managers, engineering and production teams to validate drawing and schematic accuracy.
Perform thorough reviews to identify discrepancies and propose solutions to enhance design efficiency.
Create clear and concise redline markups on drawings, indicating corrections, revisions, or additional information.
Ensure redlines are accurately documented, resolved and recorded.
Troubleshooting:
Work closely with managers, engineering and production teams to provide detailed insights into problems.
Utilize product drawings to determine best course of action for mechanical design issues.
Utilize schematic information to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in electronic systems.

Education and Experience:
Associate degree in a mechanical (ME, MET) or electrical (EE, ELM, EMEC) discipline or proven equivalent design experience.
Knowledge of basic materials properties, components and hardware.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor or Dassault Solidworks.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with 3D parametric design software.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Create drawings, adhering to ASME, and SelectTech standards.
Knowledge and competency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to document the design process fully and accurately from start to finish.
Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS 9100.
Ability to work independently as well as take direction and collaborate with others.
The ability to complete assigned tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
