This position is responsible for supervising and managing the daily operations of the extrusion department while supporting the compounding, material handling, and maintenance departments to meet facility/corporate objectives. The Production Supervisor must have a thorough knowledge of the work supervised, typically gained through experience coupled with some formal training. It further requires an understanding of the Saint-Gobain Akron facility, practices, and procedures. A high level of human relations skills is essential to develop and motivate direct reports and collaborate with support functions. Flexibility in schedule is necessary to meet the requirements of this position. Union/Labor Management is a critical skill for this role.

Essential Functions:


Monitor and react to established performance indicators, including budget variances, production, quality and safety metrics
Participate in all related personnel activities, including selection, training, skill assessment, coordination/tracking of OT and discipline
Exhibit and assure department conformance to safety awareness and safe work practices, and applicable policies and procedures.
Prioritize/Lead in continuous improvement/WCM projects
Provide technical support to prevent/resolve manufacturing problems.
Knowing and understanding & enforcing the quality and safety policies.

Education & Experience :

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering, Business, or related field - PREFERRED

1-5 years supervisory experience (union preferred) - REQUIRED

Hands on computer knowledge (MS Office, production reporting MRP system, Kronos/UKG Timekeeping) Required

Continuous Improvement Experience (LEAN, Six Sigma, WCM) - Required

Excellent mathematical computation and problem-solving skills -Required

Ability to read a schedule or metrics and react -Required

Leadership & Communication Skills:

Must adapt to change in the environment and have proven ability to exert influence in a directive and positive manner. -Required

Ability to build Trust and Empower employees. -Required

Ability to work with peers and employees through effective collaboration and transparent communication.- Required
