Battery Engineer, Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with Li-ion cell development (e.g., internal cell designs, process, or validation of performance, reliability, and safety).
  • Experience working in electrochemistry and with Li-ion batteries materials.
  • Experience with battery cell tests for validation of performance, reliability, or safety.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in developing and qualifying Li-ion cells with external vendors for consumer electronic devices.
  • Experience with battery test conditions, requirements, and equipment (e.g., impedance meters, Maccor or Arbin battery tester, etc.).
  • Experience using statistical process control tools (e.g. Minitab or JMP) and data tools (e.g., Python, SQL, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Experience with international standards and compliance requirements of Li-ion batteries for consumer electronics.
  • Experience with protection circuit modules and fuel gauges.

About the job

In this role, you will assist in the development of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for consumer electronics. You will develop Li-ion battery cell designs according to the Mechanical Control Outline (MCO), Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS), and Design For Manufacturability (DFM). You will communicate with a cross-functional team as well as vendors to resolve technical issues and drive designs of experiments (DOE) to optimize the internal cell design parameters and related critical processes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Development of Li-ion batteries for consumer electronics based on MCO, ERS and DFM. 
  • Define and perform qualification matrices to qualify Li-ion batteries. 
  • Summarize and present technical results related to qualification processes. 
  • Communicate across a cross functional team and vendors to resolve technical issues. 
  • Drive DOE’s to optimize the internal cell design parameters and the related critical process parameters.
