Starting Salary: 17.98 an hour / $35,061.00 annually

Work Hours: This position will work and be paid for 75 hours in a 2 week pay period

Current county employees will follow the county's promotion/demotion policy.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Works independently under the supervision of the Tax Administration Supervisor. 
  2. Assists Tax Administration Management in various duties.
  3. Address tax and assessment inquires and concerns verbally and through correspondence.
  4. Preparation of departmental mailings.
  5. Provides copies of records to the public and receipts payment and maintains customer billing.
  6. Collects delinquent taxes, audits cash drawer, and makes deposits with Treasurer daily.
  7. Assists department staff with special projects, reports or assignments as requested.
  8. Audit and data entry of uncollected tax & rollback tax returns into the tax collection software.
  9. Audits monthly delinquent collections and deposits.
  10. Prepares bankruptcy documents.
  11. Preparation of tax certifications.
  12. Assist with tax foreclosure processes.
  13. Prepares and maintains electronic files requests and updating of website files.
  14. Prepares check requests for accounts payable.
  15. Prepares Laserfiche records.
  16. Attends meetings, training as required.
  17. Serves as backup for: processing homestead applications and mailing of approval/denial letters, process building permits and enter into tracking system, and Per Capita data entry

Qualifications: 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  1. High school diploma plus additional training in computers, business, and accounting.   
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 required.  Must obtain knowledge of real estate taxation and collection practices. 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  1. 2 years’ working experience preferred in taxes, accounting and/or banking.
  2. Work experience handling and responsibility for receiving large sums of money required.
