agreement. Position Purpose: This position is critical to ensure
wastewater meets the contractual and regulatory requirements for
discharge to local waterways and ultimately Lake Michigan, 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. To meet this goal requires a number of trades,
operators and managers working as a coordinated team to maintain the
system. This position is one of those required for this team. Under
supervision, monitors, controls and makes necessary adjustments to the
various flows to operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient
manner, and to produce a saleable product, Milorganite. Required to
accurately maintain and update records, documents, and manuals including
electronic media. Must provide current, timely, accurate, and complete
data, for all work assigned. Required to follow current
company/department policy and procedures, also required to fully
participate in improvement initiatives, including but not limited to:
job plans, workflows, job safety analysis, standard maintenance
procedure s, preventative maintenance improvement initiatives,
efficiency activities, use of technology-based solutions, condition
assessments and reliability initiatives. Primary
Duties/Responsibilities: \* Required to follow all applicable safety
rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of
assigned duties. Required to participate in all required safety training
activities. Expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in the
performance of duties. \* Monitors, operates and adjusts the dryers and
their appurtenant equipment to provide proper drying capacity dictated
by plant loadings and sludge flows directed to the Dewatering and Drying
Facility. \* Controls the number of dryers online, their drying
temperature levels, storage and direction of operational recycled dried
material, and the ultimate discharge of dried activated sludge to the
Milorganite Storage Facility. \* Provides operational maintenance,
lubrication, and minor adjustments. Keeps assigned areas clean. \*
Operates belt filter presses by adjusting blended sludge feed rates;
conditions blended sludge with polymers and ferric chloride or other
chemicals; adjusts press mechanics; puts into and takes out of service
presses to meet production requirements; samples and evaluates press
feed sludge and discharge cake; takes and preserves samples for quality
control and lab analysis. \* Operates press cake transfer belt
conveyors. \* Performs normal operational maintenance, tension
adjustments, and lubrication. Cleans press belts utilizing water wash
spray systems provided or chemical cleaning as needed. Keeps areas
around press floor and Press Area Control Center 3 (ACC-3) clean and
clear of obstacles. \* Keeps on-going inventories and records as to
