Overview




The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) providesengineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power and propulsion test facilities. We are currently looking for an experienced Aviation Avionics Specialist to provide support on critical rsearch related to NASA Glenn's aircraft.

Responsibilities




This position will require that the technician be able to support NASA Glenn Research Center flight operations avionics needs. Primary duties will be to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair avionic and electrical aircraft systems integral to NASA research aircraft and equipment.


Qualifications




Must have a minimum of 5 years aircraft avionics and electrical systems experience.

Associates Degree in Aviation Avionics Technology from an accredited Technical University or Military Technical School required.

Military avionics experience that includes troubleshooting complex avionics and electrical systems. Extensive knowledge of avionics equipment design, development, evaluation, testing, installation and maintenance on commercial and or military aircraft.

Applicant shall possess the knowledge of Aircraft Trouble-shooting techniques specifically, analyzing and diagnosing faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and their equipment.

Ability to interpret circuit wiring, logic diagrams, drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems and equipment to understand the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the system.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair avionic and electrical aircraft systems integral to NASA research aircraft and equipment.

FCC License and National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Technologies (NCATT) Certification desired.

Knowledge of military and civilian aviation technical directives, maintenance and service publications.

Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation and adjustment of major inter-related and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies.

Basic computer skills to include Internet research, email, and document control.

Must meet FAA class III or NASA aviation medical standards to serve as an in-flight maintenance technician.

Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications.

Must be able to travel in support of aircraft project mission requirements up to 15% of scheduled work time as assigned and work overtime to support aircraft project mission requirements as assigned.

Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
