The Direct Support Professional works in a residential home with individuals with Developmental Disabilities. The position requires constant supervision and observation of individuals. She/he assists individuals with their daily needs and in maintaining cleanliness of the residence and serve as a role model and advocate. Mandatory overtime is required. Direct Support Professionals must be awake during the entire shift; sleeping on the job is prohibited.
A High School Diploma and a valid, non-restricted NYS driver’s license is required. Related work experience preferred, not required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. Must be able to do all SCIP-R physical interventions including use of lifts that are provided for all required lifting of individuals and be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be able to travel stairs to the 2nd floor as necessary.
