Summary:
Barr is seeking a civil design/technician student to work on project teams involved with civil and water resources engineering and design and related technical activities. Typical project responsibilities may include design using CADD modeling software and assistance with construction plans and specifications; supporting internal project teams by creating, preparing, modifying, and managing drawings, specifications, and models for design documents; field data reduction; and spreadsheet preparation. Fieldwork opportunities may include survey and other field tasks.
This position requires presence, with some flexibility, in a Barr office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications:

Pursuing an associate degree in civil engineering technology or a related engineering field

Minimum GPA of 3.0; 3.5 or higher is preferred

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D either through coursework or industry

Experience with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients

Completed or enrolled in physics and/or mathematics coursework

At least one full-time semester of course work remaining after internship is complete

A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs

Detail-oriented, thorough, and organized approach

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Previous construction observation, Civil 3D, or other design software experience=

Experience with GPS survey equipment

Current FAA Part 107 sUAS drone pilot license
NOTE: Applicant must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites. Work may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
