The Director Data Science Engineering is responsible for leading the data science engineering teams with focus on supporting the actuarial and data science needs of Westfield. The role handles multiple responsibilities including driving the data science and actuarial data strategies using advanced analytical techniques that drive effective decision-making that transforms the company into a data-driven organization. The role leads the business by leveraging data and advanced analytics to drive profitable growth through better insights and better decisions. The role also provides thought leadership on issues related to data science and actuarial data needs as it applies to company's operations and works effectively with business leaders at all levels of the organization to improve understanding, adoption and use of analytics solutions.

Handles the responsibility for leading Data Science Engineering Teams supporting the business units which includes enabling a data-driven culture at the company through widespread access to quality data, ensuring oversight, alignment and understanding of our data assets to deliver insights, promoting data literacy across the organization and excellence in data-driven decision-making.
Supports the implementation of the data vision and support strategies of the company, especially regarding data consumption in support of actuarial and data science, to make the organization more data and analytical.
Provides thought leadership on issues related to advanced analytics as it applies to company's operations.
Works effectively with business leaders at all levels of the organization to improve understanding, adoption and use of analytics solutions
Manages the prioritization and fulfillment of information requests and business questions requiring data analysis. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and supports process improvement efforts.
Ensures correct use of data assets and provides leadership in developing new ones to support business success across the organization.
Works with the data management and data technology partners to ensure compliance with policies, standards and processes and selects, acquires and manages external resources (tools, data and consultants) as needed.
Leads the implementation and use of information and data resources through communication, training and support for business users.
Serves as an expert on various information, methods and tools that can be used in information consumption, information management and information management.
Owns accountability for talent management and navigation of employee related issues that impact morale and work environment to ensure a high performing team including hiring and selection, succession planning, performance and compensation management, and employee development and career coaching as required. Manages priorities and workload distribution and removes barriers that impede progress.


12+ years of experience in the field of Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or a related field.
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration, and/or commensurate experience. Master's degree in Business is preferred.
Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) (Preferred)
Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred)
