Referral Coordinator
VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our busy 24-hour Emergency/Critical Care and Hybrid animal hospital.
We are looking for a high-functioning, personable, and professional client service extraordinaire with a veterinary background to join us in delivering exceptional care and communication to our clients, their pets and the referring veterinary community.
Referral Coordinators can come from a wide variety of professional backgrounds: veterinary technicians, medical and healthcare, retail, hospitality, restaurant service, sales, administrative assisting, or call centers, but all must share a common passion for providing an outstanding client experience.
Job Description:
As an extension of the Client Service team and Technician team, the Referral Coordinator provides world-class service to our doctors' clients, and to the referring veterinarians (pcDVM), entrusting us with their patient's care.
The Referral Coordinator acts as the primary contact for clients (owners) who want to obtain updates on their pets, or have general questions regarding our Specialty services. The Referral Coordinator will also act as the primary administrative contact for referring clinics that wish to transfer a patient to our facility for further care. Additionally, the Referral Coordinator handles inpatient order and invoice management.
The Referral Coordinator facilitates scheduling (including exams, rechecks, technician rechecks and procedures), provides assistance during the transition of becoming a client/patient with one of our Specialty doctors, and offers knowledge along the way to make the experience as smooth and seamless as possible.
Finally, the Referral Coordinator also works closely with the hospital including the doctor, technicians and the client service team to promote an efficient workflow.
Skills and Qualifications:
A successful Referral Coordinator candidate will share our commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care with exceptional client service. They will be expected to bring a positive attitude, maintain a high level of confidence, along with displaying:
• Compassion for pets and people.
• Excellence in customer service, communication and listening skills.
• Decision making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action,
• The ability to integrate new information into problem solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours of varying shifts - including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Clinical and Coordinating experience preferred, but not required.
This position also requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches and animal waste.
