Job Description
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the general accounting functions of the Company and must be able to navigate accounting concepts and follow internal Company policies to solve accounting issues and deliver on requirements. The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising a timely and accurate monthly accounting close cycle including balance sheet reconciliations, maintenance of company cost structure and managing audit requests. The position will contribute to strategic initiatives focusing on internal processes and continuous improvements.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and support the month-end close process, record keeping, and progress tracking.
- Manage close process and monthly journal entries.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Participate in periodic reviews and annual audits to provide information to independent auditors and examiners.
- Compare standard costs to actual costs and investigate variances.
- Support costing setup, updates, and reporting.
- Support inventory obsolescence process and accruals.
- Conduct various ad hoc accounting research and reporting.
- Maintain understanding of company policies, business processes and procedures, departmental goals, and business plan.
- Determine and implement procedural changes to drive automation, efficiency and to combat risk.
