Department: Materials
Position Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Summary of Job Function
The Material Handler/Forklift Operator will perform duties such as operate material handling equipment, perform receiving and shipping inspections, and load or unload materials via hand or forklift. As well as perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely moving product using powered industrial equipment by performing the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities

Operation of powered industrial equipment while following OSHA safety guidelines
Verify all product/full goods/raw materials incoming and outgoing
Stacking loads properly
Perform general housekeeping duties
Perform daily forklift inspections
Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices to load, unload, transport, or stack material.
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a vehicle is working properly.
Is responsible for using safety devices provided by the company (airlocks, seatbelts, etc).
Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning and recharging batteries safely and by procedures.
Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
Effective communication skills and problem solving
Ability to operate a sit down/Standup, (Reach) forklift
Ability to work with all functional team members
Ability to follow oral and written work instructions
Ability to work in a non-climate controlled area
Ability to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required

Education and/or Experience

Forklift Operator Certification Required
High school diploma or GED Preferred
Must be a minimum of 18 years old
