Job Description
: Resources and Consultation - Provide immediate and ongoing support to students in crisis including, but not limited to, interacting with students and their families, student affairs offices, academic units, and relevant departments to coordinate University responses to students' needs or following a student death. Provide students with comprehensive referral services. Appropriately and efficiently provide crisis response as identified by the unit manual. Develop and implement prevention and intervention strategies for students in crisis. Assist the Dean of Students with threat assessment and significant incidents in the University community. Collaboration - Collaborate closely with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to student needs and crisis services including serving as a liaison to academic colleges and University Housing & Dining. On-Call Coverage - Participate in on-call rotation and serve as an emergency contact for UHD, UTPD, CMHC, and other departments after hours, on weekends and holidays. Outreach and Communication - Provide ongoing safety and support to students, and provide follow up after initial emergency incident. Organize outreach efforts to ensure that the University community is aware of the services provided for students in crisis, including campus presentations and trainings (as needed). Other duties as assigned. Required Qualification: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or other related field and at least 3 years of experience advising college students, including the following - direct experience with individual crisis management and in the development, implementation, mediation, and evaluation of crisis and-or grief intervention protocols. Experience with case management and case consultation. Demonstrated organizational, administrative, listening and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under stress, perform multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build campus partnerships. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide programs and services from a non-judgmental perspective. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: More than three years of experience counseling or advising college students, including the following: direct experience with crisis management counseling and in the development, implementation, mediation, and evaluation of crisis and/or grief intervention protocols. Experience in victim/survivor advocacy relating to sexual harassment-including sexual violence and an understanding of Title IX federal law. Knowledge of best practices for addressing behavior concerns regarding threat mitigation. Commitment to social justice issues and a demonstrated background working with diverse groups of people. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding student issues as well as parental and faculty concerns. Demonstrated excellent public speaking and presentation skills. Salary Range: $63,350 non-negotiable Working Conditions Standard office environment Flexibility in working location is important for this job to meet the needs of our campus partners. Work Shift The successful candidate must participate in on-call rotations and serve as an emergency contact for University Housing & Dining, UTPD, CMHC, and other departments after hours, on weekends and during holidays.
