Physical and Environmental Demands:
Incumbent is often required to work long hours in an office environment under the pressure of multiple deadlines. Some travel, often for multiple days and extended hours, is required. Incumbent is required to attend and conduct public meetings, sometimes with difficult audiences and under emotionally charged situations. May occasionally be required to observe and participate in strenuous field activities to review and evaluate projects. Some air travel (commercial or department small aircraft) may be required.
Incumbent frequently works independently, but there is routine consultation with the Division Administrator concerning work decisions.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Degree in fisheries, biology, zoology, or related field and at least 5 years of experience in fisheries management or equivalent position. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Training in management practices, leadership skills, facilitation, project management, conflict resolution, and negotiation processes is preferred. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
