This is a 12 month, benefits-eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Optional coverage can begin on your first active duty date. Work Hours Mon-Fri: 40 Hours per week. Hours of Learning Center are Mon-Thurs 7:30-9:30PM, Fri: 7:30-5:00PM, Sat 9:30AM-2:30PM, Sun 5:30-9:30PM.
Position Summary Information

Objective
To perform the day-to-day operations of the Learning Center programs including testing administration, supervising and training tutors, provide tutoring, and maintain computer lab.

Principal Accountabilities

Principal Accountabilities
  • Provide student tutoring in Business, Math, Science and other courses qualified to tutor.
  • Supervise and train LCA’s and tutors using CRLA Standards
  • Proctor exams and maintain testing center security, including enforcing procedures including identification, electronic device and other restrictions.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, security, and integrity of tests.
  • Correspond with Distance Education instructors from Blinn and other academic institutions regarding testing.
  • Assist faculty on course related needs and auxiliary instructional materials.
  • Provide support with the technology used in classroom.
  • Assist students with computer use and monitor computer network security.
  • Guide student small group activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors including students, faculty, staff, and community members. Assist students with disabilities providing general assistance as needed. Answer inquiries and provide information.
  • Prepare and organize various reports, records, and files.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and trainings as may be required.
  • Assist with training of tutors and office staff and creation of training material.
  • Operate a variety of general and specialized office machines, such as: computer, scanner, photocopier, fax machine and other office equipment.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with strong emphasis in mathematics, science and/or accounting or economics.

• Strong verbal and communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
• Attentiveness to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking ability.
• Basic knowledge and experience in using the internet including e-mail and in Microsoft Office.

• Available to work evenings including Sundays
