Job Title: Machine Operator I Shift:
Department: Assembly Position: Hourly
Purpose:
Assemble quality tire repairs (patches) from pieces of rubber and fabric by machine and/or by hand.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
v Operate machines (i.e. big clicker, Z-5002, Tech 1000 and Tech 1001 cut and lay machine, and bonus maker, etc.). Must be willing to be trained and operate any machine as needed.
v Operate computer on machines.
v Keep supplies fed to the machine and assemblers.
v Read and follow ISO document charts.
v Follow work orders closely.
v Record labor and inventory accurately.
v Excellent hand eye coordination is required.
v Lift, mount, and setup rolls of fabric on machine spindle.
v Inspect quality of repair (patch).
v Occasionally pull plastic film off of rubber repairs (patches).
v Occasionally assemble, bead /lay pieces of rubber, fabric, and plastic film.
v Other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Work independently with little supervision.
Education/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Communication Skills/Requirements:
Able to read limited number of two-and-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to work in a group setting. Ability to follow and understand simple instructions.
Mathematical Ability:
Able to add and subtract and do simple division and multiplication. Calculators are available.
Reasoning Ability:
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Work Environment:
Assembly area. Area is not air-conditioned, but is heated in the winter.
Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
Additional Information:
Generally responsible for the safety and cleanliness of machines and own work area. Carts available to help transport material.
