Long-term Care Surveyor (Long-term Care Regulation) Inspector V – Starting Market Rate Salary $60,431.88 As part of a collaborative team of public servants, a surveyor protects individuals’ health and safety by conducting on-site residential surveys, monitoring, and investigations of Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Medicaid program providers to assess their compliance with state and federal laws and rules. These include investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This position offers a competitive starting salary; excellent state benefits, including health insurance and retirement; and the opportunity to regularly travel to different program providers within a region and across the state. In this front-line field position, a surveyor is mobile and flexible and performs minimal work at an office, though the role does require writing reports detailing deficiencies/violations against a provider, remedies to correct those deficiencies, and narrative to support regulatory determinations. Essential Job Functions Under the direction of a program manager, a surveyor conducts on-site inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and comprehensive surveys to determine provider compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations. Conducts entrance and exit conferences with provider staff. Completes inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narrative to support regulatory findings.65-70% Communicates clearly and accurately with others (internally and externally) to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, or resolve issues or complaints regarding services provided in the Home and Community-based Services and Texas Home Living Medicaid waiver programs, both of which serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and must receive specialized services that meet their needs. 10-15% Re-visits residential sites and provider locations to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
