Job Description
Alcohol and Drug Group Facilitator
The AOD Group Facilitator is responsible for delivering drug/alcohol recovery-based group programming services to the resident population of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center. The specific program/curricular delivered will vary depending upon the AOD Group Facilitator's placement within the continuum of programming services.
II ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Provide excellent programmatic group services to the residents.
b) Serve as a role model for residents through the daily demonstration of appropriate, healthy, and pro-social behavior as well as utilization of the skills taught in various groups.
c) Participate in all treatment team meetings with other programming and operations staff to provide information about the progress of individual residents and feedback.
d) Assist in developing goals and objectives to meet a resident's needs.
e) Assist in identifying resident successes and failures.
f) Participate in review and response to disciplinary infractions or other behavioral issues.
g) Develop, implement, and monitor/document structured-time activities.
h) Participate in staff training as needed.
i) Document service hours and treatment notes in a timely fashion.
j) Apply knowledge of effective group processes.
k) Research and develop new group resources to effectively deliver additional group programming activities.
1) Interact with other community stakeholders with an identified role in the residents' rehabilitation (probation and other court staff, other treatment providers.
m) Serve as a representative of the facility by displaying compassion, fairness, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions with other members of the EOCC community and the general public.
III OHER DUTUES & RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Provide 1:1 services or crisis intervention services when required or requested.
b) Assist facility security staff when required or requested.
c) Transport residents to recover-oriented treatment functions and appointments in the community as directed.
d) Collaborate and participate with other staff in designing, developing, and implementing new treatment programs and resident activities.
e) Participate in relevant professional organizations and attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and seminars sponsored by professional organizations.
f) Participate in facility committee meetings and other facility functions.
g) Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
IV EDUCATION & ABILITIES
a) The AOD Group Facilitator must meet the following minimum educational and experience requirements:
i) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field of study (Behavioral Science, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, etc.)
ii) A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
iii) Demonstrated proficiency in providing alcohol and drug-related group programming.
iv) Demonstrated leadership and commitment to the mission and core values of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in the course of their duties.
OR
i) An Associate's degree with any combination of work-related experience, training, or college credits demonstrated at a level of achievement to a bachelor's degree.
ii) A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
iii) Demonstrated proficiency in providing alcohol and drug-related group programming.
iv) Demonstrated leadership and commitment to the mission and core values of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in the course of their duties.
b) Special knowledge and abilities
i) A passion for helping people change their lives.
ii) Strong written and verbal communication skills.
iii) Ability to work under stressful conditions.
iv) Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
v) Ability to handle sensitive 1:1 contacts with residents.
vi) Ability to maintain effective working relationships with residents, staff, and the general EOCC community.
vii) Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and Risk-Need-Need Responsivity Model of resident treatment.
viii) Ability to interact with persons of all skill levels including staff, residents, and visitors.
ix) Possess strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to identify problems and solve conflicts.
II UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS & HAZARDS
The AOD Group Facilitator is responsible for ensuring the physical safety of the employees of the Eastern Ohio Correction Center as well as the safety of any resident and visitor. The AOD Group Facilitator must ensure that any action taken does not exacerbate already dangerous situations by monitoring those situations to ensure that they do not escalate into potentially harmful situations for employees and residents.
The AOD Group Facilitator must provide first aid or CPR to any individual who is injured or ill. Serious errors could result in injuries to employees or residents, as well as the possibility of death. Additionally, the AOD Group Facilitator may be exposed to potentially dangerous situations such as an agitated and armed resident requiring the use of physical force and restraint techniques, including the possibility of exposure to bodily fluids and potentially contagious diseases.
Must be able to pass drug screening, background and have a valid driver's license.
Full-Time
$19.50 per hour
