an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our growing and thriving organization.
This is your opportunity to perform support functions to the eye
practices of the department and gain exposure as an ophthalmology
scribe. This is a great opportunity for Pre-Med Students! This role will
start in June 2024 and is a 1 year contract! What you will get: Hands-on
experience working with multiple Ophthalmic providers throughout the
Gundersen Health System Starting hourly rate of \$16.77/hour + more for
experience 3 different positions available: based mainly at the La
Crosse Clinic, based mainly at the Onalaska Clinic & opportunity to
travel to the Winona, Whitehall & Viroqua Clinics. What you will do:
Work 36 hours each week, Monday-Friday Hours are between 8:00am-5:00pm,
except for Thursday hours are between 8:00am-7:00pm. Have the
opportunity to travel to all Gundersen optical locations Help support
and scribe with the Provider What you will need: Highschool diploma or
equivalency 6 months customer service/public relations experience

Performs support functions to the eye practices of the department
including pre-testing for appointments and various diagnostic tests.
Major Responsibilities: 1. Perform preliminary testing procedures to
include measurement and verification of visual acuity and checking
intra-ocular pressures. Interview patient to develop statement of visual
history. 2. Responsible for administering Humphrey visual field
diagnostic procedures as well as OCT analysis of optic nerve and retina.
Other testing may include pentacam, pachymetery, and specular
microscope. 3. Coordinate the scheduling of various surgical procedures
and preparation of pre-op paperwork. Perform equipment maintenance and
minor repairs. May also include outreach travel. 4. Interact with
patients, pharmacies, and optical dispensaries in the release and
communication of prescriptions and give appropriate advice regarding eye
symptoms and problems. 5. Certain other responsibilities may include
managing and ordering supplies and inventories in department, contact
lens order processing, and instruction in insertion, removal, and
handling of contact lenses. 6. May assist in minor surgical procedures
including cleaning and sterilization of surgical equipment and
instruments as well as assisting the surgeon in the procedure. Could
