OhioMeansJobs|Cleveland-Cuyahoga County is sourcing a Medical Assistant II in a Health Care Company throughout the City of Cleveland.

JOB CONTENT

Position Summary: Support providers in the examination and treatment of patients, including the preparation of exam rooms and instrumentation, operation of medical equipment, administer medications and injections, etc. related to patient care requirements.

Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:

  1. Establish reason for visit and document patient description of chief complaint. Reviews medication list, allergies, pharmacy and immunizations. Document all EPIC visit encounter fields and initiates visit note for provider.
  2. Take and document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height, weight, head circumference (if applicable) and pain level.
  3. Assure all needed Point of Care Testing is completed and documented in EMR prior to provider visit. All back -office test results MUST be documented prior to end of day.
  4. Complete scrubbing of record prior to patients arrival for appointment. Scrubbing to include-review of Health Maintenance, review of patient problem list/diagnosis and pending of orders for due immunizations, labs, referrals and screening questions that may be due.
  5. Knowledge/set up of appropriate instrument trays to be completed prior to patient appointment.
  6. Follow-up on provider post exam requests; dress wounds, perform ear irrigations, recheck blood pressure etc.
  7. Administer immunization and medications injectables as defined to be given by MA. Must be knowledgeable of immunization schedules.
  8. Maintain patient flow for providers, filling rooms per designated room allotment.
  9. Perform/process routine venipuncture on pediatric and adult patients.
  10. Maintain quality controls measures daily, weekly, monthly Point Of Care Testing (POCT).
  11. Perform daily refrigeration temperature monitoring and vaccine supply storage units.
  12. Properly disposes/packages sharps, biohazards and expired/wasted medications in appropriate containers.
  13. Completes established daily opening and closing procedures.
  14. Assists with appointment scheduling and patient outreach calls as directed.
  15. Clean and stock all rooms.
  16. Perform daily autoclave maintenance and sterilizing of instruments.
  17. Perform counting and stocking supplies, immunizations and provide assistance as directed or needed by Site Manager or Lead MA.
  18. Assist with ordering supplies, immunizations and provide assistance as directed or needed by Site Manager, Department Manager or Lead MA.
  19. Assist with LARC count and rotation of medical supplies in the clinic
  20. Assist with monthly work orders to include the following-AED check and battery check on clinic scales
  21. Serve as a member of a Patient Centered Medical Home team.
  22. Train new MA staff on workflow and NFP policies and procedures.
  23. Ensure all temperature sensitive deliveries are processed in a timely manner.
  24. Conduct daily, weekly and monthly autoclave cleanings and weekly spore testing.
  25. Conduct monthly cleaning of microscopes.
  26. Perform weekly stock medication and private vaccine counts.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated completion of medical assistant training program, including knowledge and proficiency in blood draws.
  • Must be a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of injection levels and procedures (children and adults).
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and blood borne pathogens and OSHA guidelines.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency utilizing electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills: empathy, trust, respect and ability to establish effective relationships with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated team membership skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail: high requirement for accuracy.

  • Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time. Requires some lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work environment is stressful at times.
  • Position may require travel to other NFP sites, with or without prior notice, to assist with coverage and call offs.
  • Position will be required to work some evening/weekend hours

Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

  • Must demonstrate competency in all of the areas of the MA Level 1 Position, as noted per MA Audit.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform blood draws.
  • Must have 2 years of experience as an MA, 1 year must be with NFP.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NFPs policies, procedures, and practices typically acquired through one year of experience as an MA at NFP.

Shifts 

1st from 8 am to 5 pm 
2nd from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm
