Position Summary

This position is responsible for completing the duties necessary for providing lunch service to seniors and other eligible participants and creating a clean and orderly dining area.

SCHEDULE
Location: Various
Days: Monday - Friday as needed
Work Hours:  9:30 am to 1:00 pm
Hours Per Shift:  3.50
Shifts Per Pay Period:  varies
Position FTE:  0.20

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions: it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. 
 
Sanitize and set tables.  Wash tables.
 
Check food to ensure the proper temperature and quantity.   Serve food following specific meal portioning guidelines.
 
Provide entertainment for eligible participants; bingo, pokeno, monthly nutrition speakers.
 
Answer the phone, make reservations, and verify participant attendance.
 
Provide direction to volunteers on food prep, service and clean up.
 
Assist participants with carrying trays, cutting up meat, opening milk cartons, etc.
 
Report subsequent day’s meal count and report shortages as directed.
 
Ensure that supplies and forms are kept stocked.
 
Compile all daily and monthly paperwork.
 
Daily deposit of participant donations at designated bank.
 
Complete congregate meal site assessment forms each year.
 
Demonstrate a commitment to county safety and risk management efforts.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 
High school diploma or equivalent competencies, and zero to six months of relevant prior experience.  Proven basic arithmetic skills with ability to count and look-up numbered items, or sort times in numerical order.

Interactions & Communication 
Responds to the requests of others for basic and general information.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other Requirements 
Food Safety & Sanitation license. If not held at time of hire, candidate will be required to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
Proof of minimum liability auto insurance.
 
Decision Making 
This position has authority to make decisions that are within detailed procedures and protocols and under close supervision.  These decisions directly impact performance in the job and/or work unit within the department and information is provided to others for their decision-making.
 
Thinking & Problem Solving 
In relation to established procedures, protocols and policies of the County, the complexity of this job is low and challenges are relatively minimal.
