The Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician provides quality, compassionate care while maximizing productivity.  Maintains medical charts and completes preparatory procedures.  Provides comfort to pets and their families while delivering exceptional customer service.  Actively listens and documents accurate medical history.  Will confidently explain basic diagnosis (ear infection, skin infection, intestinal parasites, etc.) to client. 
Licensed Technicians will have the ability to perform dental prophylaxis, place IVCs, administer medications, and assist with surgeries.

Qualifications: 
The Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician will have lab and medical records knowledge such as the ability to read a fecal float, fecal direct, and ear/skin cytology, understands SOAP.  Comfortable with in-house hematology equipment or reference lab (what blood tubes are needed) etc. Comfortable with anesthesia monitoring.  Knowledge of basic canine/feline vaccines and basic vital signs for dogs and cats.
Licensed Technicians will have at least six months prior experience as a veterinary assistant/technician. Skills in Phlebotomy.  Experience with dental prophylaxis is a plus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
