Meta AR Lab Infrastructure team is looking for a lab engineer to lead, grow our team of technicians and help define our world-class infrastructure from prototyping, validation, stabilization to deployment at large scale in Meta data center, in order to support the rapid growing portfolio of Meta AR products. The lab engineer will work hand in hand with our software engineering and hardware teams to enable groundbreaking AR technology to the world through rapid changes of hardware versions and automation tests during software development life cycle (SDLC).
Lab Engineer Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype and deploy standard and custom lab infrastructure solutions in Meta Tier A labs and data centers, including rack, audio, image quality, power consumption, thermal and robotics lab to serve the velocity of automation test needs throughout new AR product software and hardware R&D life cycle.
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of hardware deployments in the labs across different geographic locations in the US.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and root cause of system and hardware failures, isolate the components/failure scenarios with software and hardware stakeholders
  • Build and bring up lab infrastructure with complex hardware configuration, including FPGA, reworked, dev board and form factor devices to align with Meta AR engineering compliance
  • Minimize the manual lab infra maintenance by building extensive infra automation
  • Lead a team of lab technicians to ensure on-time lab deployment and guarantee high reliability of the lab environment
  • Build dashboard to visualize lab infrastructure health and drive improvement
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in building out, managing and maintaining automation engineering labs at large scale for consumer electronics products
  • Hands-on experience on software/hardware engineering, infra tooling and understanding of electronics components and product assembly
  • Hands-on experience in data center with server racks management and infrastructure tooling integration
  • Experience with acoustic, RF and thermal chamber, robotics, power consumption, camera and display optical lab setups, equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Troubleshooting and analytics experience in both Software and Hardware components
  • Proficient in Python, JavaScript and SQL
  • Proven effective skills to drive cross functional collaboration and experience managing vendor and contractor engagements
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of consumer electronics and automation test experience
  • Experience in debugging tools for systems-on-chip (SoCs) and FPGA
  • Experience in hardware rework and validation
  • Experience in the integration of lab tools for automated workflows
  • Experience with Linux, Mac systems and mobile phone (Android and iOS) management
  • Knowledge of robotics handling & protocols and other EHS compliances

$102,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
