Green Hills Area Education Agency is looking to fill an Early Childhood Consultant. We offer a competitive starting wage and excellent benefits, including IPERS. Qualifications: The Early Childhood Consultant will meet state of Iowa requirements for current teacher licensure to work with young children with disabilities from birth through age 6 years. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, through various methods, with students, teachers, colleagues, administrators, support personnel, parents, and outside agencies. Minimum of Master's Degree required

Must have one of the following endorsements with BOEE:

PK-K Early Childhood SPecial Education - 223

PK-3 Teacher, Regular Education/Special Education - 100

Pk-3 Teacher, PK-3 Classroom - 106

PK-K Teacher, PreKindergarten-Kindergarten Classroom - 103

Birth - Grade Three Inclusive Settings - 1001

Essential Functions:

Early Childhood Consultants are experts in the field of early learning. They are professional development experts responsible for supporting early childhood teams to enhance and sustain the implementation of evidence-based practices to districts.

Early Childhood Consultants use Practice-Based Coaching to assist districts in ensuring a comprehensive array of support that is responsive to the needs of early childhood educators, including but not limited to:

Professional Development

  • Providing high quality professional development through differentiated pathways to teachers and paraprofessionals around evidence-based practices, including, but not limited to:
  • Early Childhood Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (EC PBIS)
  • Preschool Specially Designed Instruction (Years 1-3)
  • Preschool Foundations
  • Early Childhood LETRS
  • Yoga and Mindfulness in the Classroom
  • Follow up support for implementation and sustainability of practice, includingon-site walkthroughs, modeling, coaching, and collaboration, fidelity processes, data collection, interpretation, and decision-making

Program Collaboration

  • Consulting and coaching with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals in regards to
  • Evidence-based Practices
  • Iowa’s Early Learning Standards
  • Iowa’s Program Performance Standards (NAEYC, IQPPS, or Head Start Performance Standards)
  • Accreditation, compliance and accountability
  • Curriculum - adoption and alignment with standards
  • Social emotional behavioral learning supports
  • Assessment and Data-Based Decision-Making
  • Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment system and AEPS support, including training, data collection, management, organization, interpretation and decision-making
  • Support with organizing and understanding screening, summative and observational assessments

Onsite Support

  • Collaboration with families, specialists, AEA and district staff to ensure positive outcomes for all children
  • Coordination of monthly early childhood MTSS teaming and collaborative support for new early childhood referrals.
  • Overall support of job embedded learning and high quality learning environments
  • Transition (C to B and PK to K) support
  • Headstart/community program liaison to ensure collaboration across all programs
  • Intervention design, monitoring and review

Regular attendance is required

Establish and maintain community-school relationships and work cooperatively with community agencies to achieve and maintain continuity of services for the children and families served.

Assist the Green Hills Area Education Agency administration in any matter which may command priority and bring to their attention issues of concern regarding early childhood special education services and programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
