JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Accountant at Oswald Companies plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our treasury, tax, and equity records. This position involves various functions in cash management, debt compliance, equity tracking and tax management. This position also includes GL reconciliation and closing, account analysis and assistance with debt and tax compliance and planning. The position also assists with cash flow projections and planning and corporate valuations. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Involved in the day-to-day activities of the cash and debt management functions, including cash flow projections.
- Reviews daily, weekly and/or monthly subledger and operational reports to ensure understanding of cash requirements and seasonality of cash flow.
- Prepares or reviews daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Calculates and ensures compliance with debt covenants.
- Reviews account reconciliations completed by other team members and provides guidance, training and feedback for staff.
- Assists in preparation of tax estimates, payments, outsourced tax returns and reconciliations.
- Maintains accurate records of stock transactions in an employee-owned corporation.
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of the corporation’s credit agreement and by-laws that impact debt and equity.
- Applies advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices in the daily execution of activities that occur in the Accounting & Finance Department.
- Develops, maintains and monitors policies and procedures to accomplish responsibilities while achieving adequate internal control and the segregation of duties.
- Assists in maintaining the general ledger; extracts information and prepares accounting statements and financial or operational reports as requested.
- Calculates accurate accounting, and completes related journal entries; investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Serves as backup for core accounting functions when team members are absent or workload warrants.
- Prepares for and assists with audit and tax requirements and other periodic financial and operational reporting.
- Assists with other Accounting or Finance work as may be requested or assigned.
